We’re Thankful for Clients Like Sacred Heart Community Service

Sacred Heart Community Service in San Jose is working to build a community free from poverty by creating hope, opportunity, and action. The organization provides essential services, works to improve lives, advocates for justice, and inspires their community to love, serve, and share. We’re big fans of Sacred Heart and have been talking with the team there about remodeling their technology stack to better serve their engagement aspirations.

But a month ago they called us with an emergency. They had to stop using their HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) on short notice, and needed a stopgap solution to track their high-volume service delivery, including this November’s massive Thanksgiving food distribution. Every Thanksgiving, Sacred Heart provides food for more than 4,000 people who would otherwise go without. They feed the elderly, families, homeless folks. Without a system to help them track eligibility and delivery, they were in a real bind.

Three photos of smiling people with food to deliverPercolator partner and technical architect, Matthew Scholtz, spent four days on site working with the Sacred Heart team to customize their existing Salesforce instance to handle service delivery tracking, and they have continued building out the system with Matthew’s assistance. Late last week, the system was launched, and this week Sacred Heart began distributing Thanksgiving food boxes. In just the first hour, 240 families received all of the ingredients to cook a feast (a 40lb box of cans, perishables, produce, and, of course, a turkey), and as of this writing 1,950 families have been served. The need in Santa Clara county is overwhelming, so if you’d like to make a food donation, that would be an excellent way to celebrate the upcoming holiday! Visit Sacred Heart’s website to learn how you can contribute.
